“You’re never too old to rock”

As the classic music saying goes, “You’re never too old to rock”. Nothing might be physically truer than the recent actions of two elderly males that according to Deutsche Welle (German news outlet), snuck out from their nursing home on Friday (August 3rd) to attend the Wacken Open Air festival.

The nursing home contacted the police after it discovered that the men were missing from the facility. The men were later found at 3 a.m. by the police at Wacken Open Air, the world’s biggest heavy metal festival, which is celebrating its 29th anniversary this year in Wacken, Germany.

The two men were extremely hesitant to leave the four-day festival so police escorted them home with the help of a taxi and a patrol car.

Details for the just ended Wacken Open Air German Metal Festival

The 29th program of the iconic hard rock festival was fully sold out. It was expected to have 75,000 gather round at the four-day festival.

Headliner acts this year included Judas Priest, Danzig, Hatebreed, In Flames, Running Wild, Arch Enemy, In Extremo and Eskimo Callboy.

The festival in Schleswig Holstein is often engulfed with mud, but this year a sweltering heatwave saw organizers warn fans against fire and dust risks.

The police complimented boisterous ranters this year on good behaviour with little interference needed from police beside a few minor drug seizures.
